We all know that teachers and principals play a critical role in influencing a child's opportunities for college and career success. There has been a great deal of discussion in recent months about how to best measure the effectiveness of America's educators. Many districts and states use a value-added analysis to measure the impact teachers and schools have on students' academic progress. Additionally, several state legislatures have passed laws incorporating a growth or value-added measure into their state accountability and teacher evaluation systems. While value-added analysis is important, additional measures exist that over time can produce the most realistic picture of educator influence and student success. This event will help define the strengths and limitations of many leading measures in an effort to create an understanding of what measures truly define the impact an educator has on students.

The 2011 School Measures Summit will take place on Monday, October 3, 2011, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at The 优蜜传媒Building, 901 F Street NW, Washington, D.C.
